Our Volunteer Program
Help and learn about syntropic agroforestry, an important way to plant food, fixate carbon, generate a biome for biodiversity and protect soil and water resources. Learn and help on stingless bees and mushroom cultivation. Both support our forests and bring value to it. Live surrounded by wild life, amazing crystal clear water rivers and majestic mountains. Our 22hs per week volunteer program will give you plenty of time to explore or use our high speed internet for home office. Live, work and volunteer in the place of your dreams.
Climate change is the final blow of our broken system. It will extremize our current problems such as poverty, social extremisms, overconsumption, environmental destruction and pandemias. Millions will loose their home, droughts will destroy plantations and many more millions will starve.
Our hopes lies on changing society at its core, its values, person by person. The experience of working with Nature will invade your 6 senses and help you reconfigure your life. A new economy and society will emerge after we fix our heart and mind and place new values. With lively discussions and enough technical information, conscience will rise and remain awaken to help you see the tentacles of the failing system and cut them loose. The project leader Marcus André is a eletrical engineer, a respected PhD researcher (particle and mathematical physics) is very well informed on science matters and can explain you the reality beyond the naked eyes. On dinner table conversation you will easily reconfigure your diet habits and feel much healthier eating local organic plant and fungi based meals. Our diet has a major impact on climate change and regenerative organic plant-fungi based food is carbon POSITIVE, i.e., it fixates carbon in the soil. Furthermore, with your contribution we will be able to plant dozens of trees and offset many years of your carbon emission. So, please, hop on the volunteering wagon applying through our partner volunteer world.
What we Are Looking For
We seek nature lovers that are really committed to support and help those who are dedicated to protect wild life and its habitat, fight climate change, bring social justice to rural area and that are willing to make positive changes in their own life that will bring more healing to their body, their mind and the planet. The inequalities and lack of opportunities are much higher in the rural areas in Brazil and that's why so many migrated and continue to migrate to the slums/favelas of big cities and subject themselves to the oppression of violence, drug lords, militia and police. Unfortunately we cannot pay for your expenses on living with us, since it would drain valuable resources from our important project.
Your contribuition will pay
-fast internet (1 person can watch a 4k video)
-organic plant and fungi based food for you to prepare your meals in group, grown locally by us or near organic farmers
-1 bedroom with bathroom for 1 or 2 (couple) people. It will be yours to keep clean.
-warm shower
eletricity,
-propane gas for cooking
-eco-friendly cleaning material, including soap for laundry
-guided hiking weekly
-fully equipped kitchenware
-space and appliences for home office with multifunction office printer.
-Lessons on healthy plant-fungi based diet (minimally processed, organic, local)
-Lessons on agroforestry, native beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, edible mushroom identification in the forest, edible plants in the forest for you to camp and stay alive in the Atlantic rainforest (survivalism).
-We will plant 50 trees for you to offset many years of carbon emission.
Requirements
We expect:
- Be more than 16 years old.
18 hours of weekly dedication to agroforestry, wild life and biodiversity research, stingless native beekeeping. The schedule can be flexible to accommodate personal needs (home-office), but it is important to start early at least 3 days a week.
Keep bedroom and personal bathroom clean and return it clean before you leave.
Participate in the cleaning of the shared areas of the house (kitchen).
Participate in the food preparation for lunch and meal.
After use, leave kitchen sink and table clean for the next person to use it.
Commit to a healthy ,minimally-processed plant based diet, bring awareness to the fact that the food that heals you also heals the planet. We avoid GMO, food from conventional monocultures that destroy the soil, kill bees, contaminates creeks and rivers and dry spring waters and brings poison to people's table. Plant (and fungi) based diet has proved to be the healthiest diet for you and the planet, that also help fixating carbon back to the soil.
Do not smoke.
I don't drink alcoholics and I expect little or no consumption of alcohol in my place. Same to any other recreational drug. Our recreation is to be present with full awareness facing the immense beauty that wild life and natural cascades provides
There will be no bread or pasta in the diet, food made from wheat, a conventional monoculture that is harmful and poorly adapted to Brazil's climate. There are many substitute native foods.
Our fees
Minimum stay of 2 weeks. The first 2 weeks are an apprenticeship program with little volunteering taking place. The initial contribution will support the apprenticeship program and it will offset many years of carbon emission and allow us to keep improving our structure to receive volunteers. After 2 weeks you pay only U$40,00 per week for excellent plant based local organic food and infrastructure (gas, eletricity, internet, ecofriendly warm shower, cleaning material).
